You, Me & She: Curating A Community of Co-Parents

Welcome to You, Me & She, a new an exciting co-parenting movement inspired by our real life journey .

{Who Are We?}

Paulina O’Kieffe is a woman of many hustles and hats. She is also the proud mama of Eva (4) and Carlos Jr (2) and Step Mama to Sherika (10) whom she creatively co-parents with her partner Carlos (Sr) on the west side of Toronto. Paulina is a writer, performance artist and public speaker who has a deep passion for working in and connecting communities.

Sarah Drayton is the fun, fly and fashionable mother of AJ Jr (2) and Sherika (10) whom she successfully co-parents with her ex-partner Carlos and Paulina. Sarah is currently embarking on a number of projects including going back to school, curating You, Me & She as well as developing a clothing boutique with her best friend.

As in a large number of co-parenting situations, our relationship began as a tension filled, combative, competitive and overly negative experience. However over time, our relationship improved, and went from frenemy to friendly. Many factors played a role in reshaping our co-parenting relationship and after checking our egos and having life generally humble us, we decided that our personal peace Β was worth more than the brief highs we got from being petty.

For the last two years we have been able to open up, becoming more vulnerable to each other and worked to identify tools and techniques that continue to contribute to the co-parenting relationship we have built. This has had such a positive impact on not only the child we co-parent (a curious and creative 10 year old named Sherika), but also on our other children. Our story has also inspired many friends, aquaintances and even strangers who constantly ask for advice or suggestions on their own co-parenting matters.

Seeing the need for a community where co-parenting was defined beyond the stereotypical images of competitiveness, spite and drama as portrayed in many media narratives, we decided to create a new narrative; one rooted in support, empathy, understanding, friendship and a collective effort to raise children in the most positive and nurturing environment possible. With that vision in mind, You, Me & She was created.

Currently You, Me & She connects with the co-parenting community through our blogs, weekly podcasts and a book project scheduled to be released in 2017. We encourage you to look around, use the resources, join the conversation and begin your journey towards a a healthier and more successful co-parenting relationship.
